Climate-controlled Shelter for Variable Frequency Drives

Challenge

The variable frequency drives of the extruders were burning out due to overtemperature, causing recurring machine stoppages and affecting production continuity.

Approach

• Design and implementation of a climate-controlled shelter dedicated to the variable frequency drives.
• Coverage of extruders 21, 9, and 5.
• Preservation of the optimal operating environment for the VFDs within the thermal range required by the manufacturer.

Results

Controlled environment and effective protection of the drives, with elimination of overtemperature faults and increased line availability.
